Timeline

One thing I've learned (the hard way) is that you can't rush an adoption.  You can do everything as quickly as you can, but there are just times that you have to wait.  For instance, even though I had just updated my home study for Russia, it still took 3 months to get my China home study in the mail.  Seriously...just can't rush it even though you want to.  God's timing.....

4/18/13  Decided on China and contacted our agency for the first time.
4/26/13  Received our girls file
4/30/13  Submitted LOI (Letter of Intent)
6/13/13  Remainder of home study visits performed (it took that long because we have 2 agencies in the      whole state of Montana who do Hague home studies).  Got to wait our turn....
7/31/13  Finalized home study reports received in the mail
8/03/13  USCIS application mailed
8/15/13  USCIS appointment notice for 8/30/13
8/20/13  Called USCIS and bumped up our appointment to 8/26 due to hubby's work schedule.
8/26/13  USCIS fingerprint appointment
10/15/13 Received a Request for Evidence from USCIS
11/29/13 Received USCIS approval
12/10/13 Dossier sent to China
12/19/13 Dossier logged in
2/10/14   LOA
3/17/14   I800 Approval
4/25/14  Travel Authorization
5/18/14  We're outta here!
5/21/14  Gotcha!

  1. Jodie, This is thrilling! I just read your raw emotion, the gut-wrenching emptiness of waiting for Joshua. Yet God is leading you on! Joshua and Josie couldn't go to a better family for them. If there is anything we can do from here to help, please, please let us know (payment for long-distance dental consults :) or whatever). I have a good friend at the LA consulate with a big heart. She is probably more helpful than me, to be honest but anyway, we're willing and will be praying for all your babies to make it home. Suzzie
